Weekly live discussion of the NFL
The NFL’s continued push for international games has numbed me to the point that I did not realize until typing this that we are in the middle of a three-week stay in London. In fact, London’s “favorite” team in the … Continue reading The NFL Week 5 Thread Is Stuck In London
The silly ideas one gets when they watch the original trailer to Blue Velvet several times at their local indie theater. Either this game will be perfectly mediocre or it will be absolutely terrible. There’s not much inbetween here. … Continue reading The NFL Week 4 Thread Is Cinema
Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season is upon us, and there’s still not a lot of clarity on which teams are good. On the other hand, we already know that some teams are going to be bad. As … Continue reading The NFL Week 3 Thread Always Makes That Catch
Welcome to NFL Week 2! We start off with what could be a good game, but Thursday Night Football expectations generally apply. So what did we learn during the first week of this season? Absolutely NOTHING. The lack of preseason … Continue reading The NFL Week 2 Thread Hunts For A Quarterback
…except, of course, for your favorite team. You know which one. Welcome to another year of NFL weekly threads here at The Avocado! I’m proud to help our positive and silly community work through their professional football desires week by … Continue reading The NFL Week 1 Thread Thinks Everyone Has A Shot
What Time Does “What Time Does The Super Bowl Start?” Start? Welcome to Super Bowl LX! Honestly, I keep having a double take at the official logo because the Lombardi Trophy makes it look like it’s saying LIX. Roman numerals … Continue reading The Super Bowl LX Thread Rises In Flames Of Redemption
Perhaps it’s on purpose, but I always feel the conference championships are overshadowed by all the league news that happens the weeks before it. And part of that is due to how deeply stupid NFL ownership is to this day. … Continue reading The NFL Conference Championship Thread Is Overshadowed, Again, By Coaching Hires
Yes, these topics are silly but I do enjoy making them. Slowly but surely, graphic design will become a passion. Welcome to the NFL’s 2025-26 divisional playoffs! There are eight teams and I suppose most of them have a reasonable … Continue reading The NFL Divisional Thread Plays Photo By Association
It’s this, something Yu-Gi-Oh-related or a header about those very weird UNO Elite ads that Chris Myers did. What are you doing, man? The NFL postseason has arrived, with this weekend featuring interesting matchups, teams that don’t deserve to be … Continue reading The NFL Wild Card Weekend Thread Knows The Power Of The Cards
It’s the final week of the 2025-26 NFL regular season, but obviously not the end of these threads for this season and the future. There will be wild card, divisional, conference championship and Super Bowl threads, much like last year. … Continue reading The NFL Week 18 Thread Isn’t Done Yet!
I know they would never do it because money over player safety, but once upon a time the NFL season was 18 weeks long with teams receiving two bye weeks. With the sheer number of injuries lately, wouldn’t that improve … Continue reading The NFL Week 17 Thread Is SOOOO GOOOD!
(and yes, this was updated for Patriots/Ravens getting flexed to Sunday night – praise to the people maintaining these graphics!) Welcome to Week 16, where many of our favorite teams have been eliminated from postseason contention. There’s always next season, … Continue reading The NFL Week 16 Thread Declares “There’s Always Next Season!”
With the many injuries to big stars this season in the NFL, it’s certainly a mystery to know who is still out there and playing as we edge closer and closer to the postseason. I wonder if this game of … Continue reading The Week 15 NFL Thread Asks “Are You A Quarterback?”
Thursday Night Football has tended to give us “classic” games, but often for irony-based reasons. Nothing describes that more than Steelers/Browns on Nov. 21, 2024. A true snow vortex game where attempted field goals went into the void never to … Continue reading The NFL Week 14 Thread Experiences Whiteout Conditions
At the moment I type this, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving! I hope your experience is positive, no matter if you’re visiting extended family, having just a casual dinner with your own family or just treating yourself for the … Continue reading The NFL Week 13 Thread Eats, Eats, Eats
Let it be known that graphic design is my passion. Welcome to Week 12 of the NFL season! As the season continues on, there’s frankly less to say. Some teams still have some work to do to make the postseason, … Continue reading The Week 12 NFL Thread Turns To Self-Help
Welcome to NFL Week 11! This week is a coda of disappointment, opening and closing with two particularly lousy games. But perhaps they will be good. Some of the worst games on paper so far this season eventually became weird … Continue reading The Week 11 NFL Thread Fills In The Blank
Welcome to Week 10 of this current NFL season! The trade deadline has come and gone, with many star players finding new homes (or rentals, based on their contract status). As per normal, we do shed a tear toward our … Continue reading The Week 10 NFL Thread Is Seeing Double Digits
It has felt like so much football, yet also very little. But with the conclusion of Week 9, we will have watched half of this year’s NFL regular season. How is your team holding up? Have you driven yourself to … Continue reading The Week 9 NFL Thread Is Halfway There
Yes, youths of the audience, the Madden franchise was once not the only officially-licensed NFL video game you could buy every year. There was the NFL2K series, which I did mention last year in the Week 9 thread when discussing … Continue reading The Week 8 NFL Thread Stole Aikman’s Brain!
I don’t think there are any “good” teams right now in the NFL. Or at least teams that have been consistently good. A lot of teams are on “fraud watch” these days. The Eagles don’t look normal. The Bills are … Continue reading The Week 7 NFL Thread Rolls The Dice
