The NFL Week 2 Thread Hunts For A Quarterback

Welcome to NFL Week 2! We start off with what could be a good game, but Thursday Night Football expectations generally apply.

So what did we learn during the first week of this season? Absolutely NOTHING. The lack of preseason makes the first two weeks of the regular season feel like practice games that matter. Timing is off, defenses are soft and all sorts of weird expectations get created entirely from opening games. I was in Arizona last weekend and good lord the local media sure was happy that Cardinals somehow won their opener! I do not expect many wins from the Cardinals otherwise this season.

As for my rooting interest? Here we go again with Carson Wentz, probably (as I type this) the starting quarterback for the Vikings this weekend. I may not have as conflicted an opinion about Wentz as say…Eagles fans, but I do have thoughts. Primarily from my alma mater’s point of view, who was a frequent adversary for North Dakota State back in the era of Wentz and (lol) Trey Lance. Now that NDSU has left the FCS and gone to greener pastures, I can quietly root for them. But years before that? Hell no.

I suppose I must, as a Vikings fan, reluctantly support Wentz as the other choices on the roster are far, far, far worse. (Seriously, just trade JJ for a seventh-round pick already. He’s never seeing that field unless EVERYONE gets injured.) But do I have to LIKE Carson Wentz, especially considering his likely bad social opinions? Absolutely not. The Minnesota Vikings are cursed, and so are anyone who roots/rooted for them. Anyway, SKOL or something.

We have so much football, we’re just getting started! Go ahead and chat about this weekend’s games down below. Have fun!
