Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jul. 26

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Jul. 26 – Please welcome today’s contestants:

– Rick, an aspiring English teacher from Pennsylvania, met his future wife in a cab after a Metallica concert;
– Ian, a copy editor from New Hampshire, got a high-five from Alex for waking up an airplane snorer; and
– Burt, a Ph.D. candidate from Connecticut, whose dissertation is on a middle ages pilgrimage site. Burt is a one-day champ with winnings of $14,401.

Burt once again came from behind with a chance to take control on DD3, but only wagered enough to tie for the lead. This allowed Rick to regain sole possession of first place going into FJ with $12,800 vs. $11,600 for Burt and $9,600 for Ian.

DD1 – SAINTS ON EARTH – This river flows into the Gulf of the same name, Northeast out of Lake Ontario (Rick won $2,000 on a true DD.)

DD2 – THIS CATEGORY IS “P.G.” – It’s also called the hypophysis because it lies under the brain (Rick won $3,000)

DD3 – IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE – In 1951 an airstrip was cut in the jungle near this nation’s Mayan ruins of Tikal (Burt won $1,000)

FJ – FAMOUS NAMES – Almost 100 when he died in 2018, this North Carolina man became just the 4th private citizen to lie in honor at the U.S. Capitol

Rick and Burt were correct on FJ, so Burt’s modest wager on DD3 did wind up costing him the game. Rick added $10,401 to win with $23,201.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the 15-letter word for an agreement not to disclose details publicly is “confidentiality”.

One more thing: Alex, not Ian, had the correct pronunciation of Gal Gadot’s last name.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is the St. Lawrence?
DD2 – What is the pituitary gland?
DD3 – What is Guatemala?
FJ – Who was Billy Graham?
