Theme songs for animation go back decades (and are a huge, lucrative business in Japan) and when it comes to Western animation they tend to be short, catchy, and designed to hook you into keeping the TV on a little longer. There are a lot of really strong pieces from over the years and I absolutely love the way they were reworked in the 90s for that Saturday Morning Cartoon CD release as it had some of my favorite bands at the time bringing them to life in a new way.

But with so many modern shows out there and a lot more creativity in the mix in what can be done, there’s an immense number of choices to be had. What’s your favorite animation theme song and, of course, our bonus question will be to talk about the worst one out there as well.
