Morning Politocadoes!
The Crime President What Does Crimes has been impeached in the House of Representatives on two article of impeachment: Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. He is the third President of the United States to be formally impeached, and the fourth to have impeachment articles drafted for him.
Trump also broke a new record with regard to impeachment. He now holds the record for most votes ever acquired on an article of impeachment at 230. Given that no Republicans voted with the Democrats, whether this is more indicative of the increasingly strident partisanship in the halls of Congress is up for debate.
But amidst all of this history making was there someone whom did not take a stand? Someone whom when push came to shove wanted to see where the wind would blow?
Why, yes! It’s Representative from Hawaii and Presidential Hopeful Tulsi Gabbard!
Gabbard voted ‘Present’ on both articles. She is the only Representative to do so. Say what you will about the sincerity of Republican support for Trump at least they stuck by their BS. Explaining after the fact that she voted ‘Present’ as she “could not in good conscience vote either yes or no. I am standing in the center.” To which, the most charitable reading of this that I can give is: A good person doing nothing in the face of evil. But my actual take would be:
Don’t let them know what you’re against
Which, hey, is a really great strategy that totally works especially in this day and age. And considering that she isn’t running for re-election for her seat in Congress, this is how she plans to win the Democratic nomination, apparently.
Anyways, welcome to Thursday! Please be excellent to each other! The Mayor McSquirrel Rule is in effect because we’re better than him. If you notice a news item being posted too often, alert a mod so it can be pinned to the top of the thread.
