The Collectible Card Game Thread – Mostly Just Magic Things

Welcome to the *CG thread, where we talk all manner of Card Games – Collectible, Trading, Living, and otherwise! Feel free to chat amongst yourselves about the card games you’re playing or anything card game-related that strikes your fancy.

So when I started this series I told myself that it wasn’t just going to be about Magic: the Gathering all the time, but I was definitely 100% lying to myself ok?

Because wow, MtG has been blowing up these past few weeks and I just need to talk about it.

Thing One: A mobile CCG spinoff of Magic called Valor’s Reach is coming out, currently in a soft-launch in the Nordic regions.

Thing Two (or B): Magic Arena launched cosmetics – sleeves that change the card backs and “styles” which are these parallax-y panoramic effects?

Thing iii (or maybe III?): Magic’s new expansion is in previews right now, and it has 36 freaking Planeswalkers in it wow what even. Also it has Mogu the good planeswalking doggo and Fblthp who is difficult to explain. It’s the culmination of modern Magic’s gameplay/story integration that started 4 years ago with Magic Origins and its success or failure will define the path of Magic’s future. There’s even a trailer:

Thing H (for Hearthstone): Oh also I guess Hearthstone’s new set is coming out and it’s about villains or something?
