This is the quarterfinals for the 16-bit years of video games, covering games roughly between 90-94 including the SNES and Genesis.

Please vote for one game in each pairing. The top voted game in each pair will advance to the semifinals.

From the round of 16:

• The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past received the most votes.
• Mortal Kombat received the least votes. FATALITY!
• The game with the least votes moving on to the next round is Earthbound. [Side note: I kind of expected there to be more Earthbound superfans here. It’s obviously done well but has had little attention.]
• The game with the most votes that was eliminated was SimCity 2000. I’m sad to report that it caught on fire, and when I tried to contain the fire by bulldozing half the city, aliens attacked and the nuclear reactor melted down. I probably shouldn’t have cut funding to services.
