- Avengers: Infinity War
- Life of the Party
- Breaking In
- A Quiet Place
Infinity War has now made $547M domestically and topped a billion internationally, with the second-biggest all-time opening in China and the fifth all-time total gross. This sets us up for another decade of Marvel crossover movies, for better and for worse.
The second and third spots went to new openers Life of the Party and Breaking In. Life of the Party, a comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, opened in 3,650 theaters for $18.5M. Breaking In, a drama starring Gabrielle Union and Billy Burke, opened in 2,500 theaters for $16.5M. Breaking In‘s average was better, though, $6,500 vs. just over $5,000 per theater.
Last week’s second and third, Overboard and A Quiet Place, sank together to fourth and fifth with 31% and 17% drops, respectively. Documentary RBG expanded its limited rollout to 180 theaters, up 101% from 15th to 10th place. Isle of Dogs added 344 theaters and was up 30%, but was down in the rankings from 12th to 13th.
Much further down, A Wrinkle in Time, now in its 10th week, picked up 1,700 theaters and was up 95%. The rise is relative, though; it still only made $800,000.
