Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Apr. 9 – The 2018 College Championship began with these contestants:
– Hannah, a sophomore at University of Central Florida, who worked at a seahorse aquarium;
– Sheldon, a sophomore at Rochester Institute of Technology, who is the event coordinator on his floor; and
– Josie, a sophomore at Stanford, who hoped to uphold the university’s stellar record of performance in this tournament.
Hannah assumed command in a DJ Bible category, was correct on DD2 and kept pouring it on, rolling up an impressive score of $19,000 going into FJ. Josie saw her chances evaporate when she missed DD3, leaving her with just $2,300 at the end of DJ. On the borderline of a potential wild card spot was Sheldon at $11,200, who had to decide whether to stand pat or try to improve his position with a non-zero wager on FJ.
DD1 – A STITCH IN TIME – Until she wore a white wedding gown for her 1840 royal wedding, most women wore their best dress for their nuptials (Sheldon won $1,000)

FJ – 20TH CENTURY PRESIDENTS – He took the oath of office twice 14 months apart
Only Josie was correct on FJ and nearly doubled up to $4,550, making her a longshot to qualify as a wild card. However, her hopes got a boost when Sheldon surprisingly bet $7,000, dropping him all the way down to $4,200. Hannah lost $2,000 to advance with a score of $17,000.
Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the granite slab that John Alden was said to set foot on first was Plymouth Rock.
That’s before our time: The antacid that presented an award to relief pitchers from 1976-2002 wasn’t Tums or Alka-Seltzer, but Rolaids.
