Today’s the 70th birthday of Director,writer, composer and all round film legend John Carpenter. So you can have a discussion about which of his films is the best and why it’s The Thing.  (Remember Mr John Carpenter’s pre 1995 output when voting in Scott’s movie poll)

It’s also the 99th anniversary of  the 18th amendment to the US constitution being ratified. Which was a lunatic move and a disaster but did at least give us the banana kaboom.
