The Pits: Best of TV 2017

Editor’s Note: Feel free to post as long or short a list as you would like below, but please keep your lists contained to these posts and do not open up your own or fill up the OT with them. The winners will be announced alongside the other winners of The Pits on 12/20 and will be calculated by adding up your lists (10 points for first, 9 for second, etc. with 5 per awarded for unranked Top 10 lists). Voting will be cut off some time on 12/20 so make sure to cast your ballot before then. If you wish to change your ballot later feel free to, but please indicate clearly that you are recasting your vote to make things easier to count.

Welcome to The Pits: Best of TV 2017 voting thread.  With a number clocking somewhere around 500, this is set to be the year with the highest number of scripted series ever.  Considering I know only one person who watched more of that 500 than myself, and he’s busy running the Movie voting thread, organizing Best of Media for The Pits, and editing Tags like a mad man, you’ll have to deal with me as your host for this feature.

The rules are simple with the categories broken down into just two: The Groening Award for Best Comedy Series and the Simon Award for Best Drama Series.  You are welcome to list out as many as you like, but it is only the 10 ten in each category that will be eligible for scoring.  Please, don’t worry about how many “prestige” titles or popular choices you have or even what critical praise there has already been.  I want you to put down at least your Top 10 in each category and since we are more People’s Choice than Emmy’s here, you can decide which belongs in each.

If you think Orange is the New Black is funnier than dramatic, put it in the Comedy category.  I promise not to judge you for OitNB making your top 10 since a far more divisive Netflix show has cracked my top 10.  Please be respectful of other people’s opinions.   Also, feel free to include limited series or mini-series in these lists, just not made for TV movies.  These kind of lists may not be for everybody, but since I wouldn’t have discovered gems like Baskets or Top of the Lake without them, I think they are great resources.  Without further ado, here are my top 10 for each (note I’ll have a full list of shows I feel worthy of recognition down in the comments).
