Blade Runner ran away with it at the 1982 Snubbies, snagging awards for Best Snubbed Picture, Best Snubbed Director (Ridley Scott), Best Snubbed Actress (Sean Young), and Best Snubbed Supporting Actor (Rutger Hauer). In the Snubbed Picture race, it finished only one vote ahead of The Thing, which has to be content with Best Cast, Best Stuntwork, and a Best Snubbed Actor nod for Kurt Russell. Rounding out the awards was a Best Snubbed Supporting Actress win for Jennifer Jason Leigh (previously nominated for The Hitcher and The Hudsucker Proxy, this is her first win). We also had a tie for Best Voicework, with Christopher Lee’s bilingual effort in The Last Unicorn and Elizabeth Hartman’s lead role in The Secret of NIMH each getting 7 votes.

Now on to 1981! As always, we’re voting on the best films and performances from that year not nominated for an Oscar. This week, we suggest films to be nominated, the top five upvote-getters are our nominees, and next week we’ll pick among those five to choose our Snubby winners, who will receive a gold statue of Spike Lee. Upvote as many films and performances as you feel are deserving. Please limit comments to the discussion threads, but feel free to suggest any film or performance from 1981 that’s not already on this list of Oscar nominees:
