Maryland fired its head coach over the past week, so now for my favorite kind of sportswriter hogwash, the “potential candidates” articles full of people who would be certifiably insane to leave their current program for Maryland. After a truly wild last week, Miami is our new #1, and they host Pittsburgh as part of the early slate. Indiana goes to Michigan looking to rebound from the narrow Ohio State loss, and Michigan will be starting a true freshman at QB. LSU goes to Auburn, and I think we all know who’s side everyone here is going to be on for that one. In the afternoon games we get a “Big 12 matchup” between #2 BYU and UCF, and UCLA tries to turn some more heads, 6-0 but still down at #9. Will a convincing win against Michigan State do the trick? A&M’s at Alabama, and Bama should have this one locked up, but there’s always the possibility of A&M inexplicably showing up for something. Evening slate has Ole Miss at Texas, and Ole Miss has a great chance to keep the funny going with a win. USC travels to Wisconsin and the ‘cuse and Darth Carolina go at it. Syracuse, despite all your current troubles, I will root for you with great vigor this weekend.
