Inside NCAA Football Today: Week 5

Right off the bat today we get the ultimate Heel vs Heel matchup with Notre Dame vs Darth Carolina, which really makes me yearn for ties, that way both teams could be losers. The noon slot also has Bama at Mississippi State, let’s see how far the tide comes in. Stanford plays Wake Forest, which I just refuse to consider an ACC Conference game. At least Syracuse/UConn has something old fashioned going on, even if it might make for a better basketball matchup. Battle For The Upper Peninsula goes down with Michigan going to Minneapolis to fight it out for that sliver of land. The afternoon slot has Ohio State going to Iowa; despite Ohio State’s offensive potential, this game could degenerate into a low-scoring bore that sets the sport back 100 years because that’s just how Iowa likes to roll. Florida/Missouri go at it and if I were a betting man, I’d always bet on Mizzou not pulling it off in the SEC. Auburn goes to Tennessee and Louisville goes to the land of the Wolfpack – I just don’t think a flock of birds have a good chance against a pack of wolves in a game played at ground level. The evening slate cools off quite a bit. I mean, Arkansas vs Texas A&M is one of the more interesting matchups, the Battle For Being The Butt Of The Conference. USC vs Washington and Miami vs Clemson round out the late games. Indiana’s back, too, but it’s a road game against Rutgers. Please don’t show your disappointment in front of Coach Cignetti.
