- The WNBA is back! It’s a weird week of leftover games after the FIBA World Cup and before the playoffs, where all of the playoff spots have already been locked out and there are a lot of players sitting out for injury, rest, tanking purposes or a combination of the three. But some of the league’s biggest stars did make history last night, with Angel Reese recording a record 30th triple double for the season, Jackie Young scoring the most-ever points in a quarter with 22, and MVP contender A’ja Wilson breaking the league record for free throws in a season.
- The NHL season is starting up with training camps and preseason games this weekend, but the biggest story in the league continues to be Team USA players requesting trades. Conor Hellyebuck refused to report to Winnipeg Jets training camp, receiving a fine and reiterating his trade demands. Detroit Red Wings player Dylan Larkin has also requested a trade, and gave a bizarre press conference where he said he was “really not ready to go there” about his reasons.
