This is part of a series of mini-reviews of R.E.M.’s studio albums, ranked worst to best. (Don’t worry; I’ll keep them short.)
#13: Reveal.
There aren’t a lot of “classics” on this record, but it has a lovely feel. A lot like the Beach Boys.
BEST SONGS: All The Way To Reno (You’re Gonna Be A Star), She Just Wants To Be, Imitation of Life, Beachball
WORST SONGS: At this point, their catalog is solid. I can’t think of any bad songs here.
Reveal followed Up in R.E.M.’s catalog, and I think it was a relief to a lot of fans, leaning back more on their traditional sound. Their second following Bill Berry’s retirement.
