Movieacados! Today we are celebrating that thing we have been questing for. That thing that has eluded us but we have finally found it. We are deliciously delighted to finally be able to achieve the thing we have been striving for this entire journey. Some say it is not the destination, it is the journey, but when you finally get that item that has been so important to everything, then it is the destination that becomes important. I am speaking of course about Mcmuffins!!! Ahem… Macguffins!

Websters defines a Macguffin as: “an object, event, or character in a film or story that serves to set and keep the plot in motion despite usually lacking intrinsic importance”. They can be there, but they do are not important to the movie overall (which I have seen many times). Macguffins can also be just like really cool items, or have some really cool and unique properties to them so even if they are not of intrinsic importance, they can still enhance the story by just being cool, like a Delorean/RV time machine. Finally, maybe sometimes the Macguffin is important, and when they are used/utilized/achieved then something spectacular happens if only for an insignificant screen time (although I think technically this would disqualify Macguffin status if it were to happen but I am also loose with the rules). I mean, I said finally but there is a ton more to write about Macguffins, it’s just I only have so much space before I get too rambly and I personally like to leave most of the talking to the comment sections sooooo moving on.

This week’s prompt: What is your favourite movie Macguffin? As always I encourage loose definitions so creativity is rewarded, have fun with this one and I will go think up a topic for next week, actually real life inspiration strikes again…
