NCAA Football 2026: Week 1.1

Week 1 is quite the endeavor (I refuse to call it Week Zero), lasting all the way through Labor Day weekend! To help provide a modicum of sanity, we’ll have a fresh thread for Saturday September 5th, especially since some teams will play twice in this span (looking at you, Eastern Michigan).

Our first Saturday, the beginning of the Holy College Football Feast season, we get Darth Carolina traveling to merry old Dublin to face TCU in a battle of who can get the drunkest the night before while listening to local jig bands. #14 USC faces its most bitter rival, San Jose State. How could such a rivalry game happen so early in the season? Save some suspense for later. The NC State (checks hand) Wolfpack goes on the road against UVA. And Stanford hosts Hawaii, in a matchup that I bet the Stanford players wish was the other way around. Later in the week, Mizzou and Illinois test themselves early, playing Arkansas-Pine Bluff and UAB respectively. COACH PRIME goes to COACH PRIME excuse me, Georgia Tech, in a COACH PRIME, dammit, matchup, that could set the tone for the COACH PRIME early going. Friday the 4th features Stanford hosting #7 Miami, a shockingly good matchup that features Stanford once again not traveling to an awesome location.

If you would like this thread to follow your favorite team, say so in the comments, and I can provide pithy remarks on a weekly basis! And in the comments, tell us: what do you like most about college football, the pageantry or the hoopla?
