La Rodrigo, as you may know, is a real one, and her songs are catchy as hell, but I really love this behind the scenes video for the single ‘The Cure’ because it highlights that so much of this video was done with practical effects. Cardboard sets (it makes sense in context) instead of green screens, textile props that are mechanically animated, stop motion animation–in a time when so much is CGI or, God forbid, AI, it’s just neat to see the choice to invest time and money and skills to make something physical, for the sake of making something cool. Here’s the finished product:
