The Creative Endeavors Thread Keeps SAYING That

This is the space for our members to discuss and share their creative projects, ranging from written works to drawings, photography, and even craft projects such as knitting and woodworking. Those of you who’d like to post future Creative Endeavors Threads post your request in the comments below.\

Last post’s trajectory continues, slowly but surely. Using this hiccup in my “career” to rethink a few things about how I work and what I do. For one thing, I want to do more finished and defined graphite and charcoal pictures, and the initially instinctive process of the globular semi-abstracts I do has sharpened in the last few outings into more definite shapes, so running with that for a bit. I also forgot how much fun it was to do crowd scenes when I did one this Friday in Ypsilanti (I’d gone to Ziggy’s to see Blind Liars, but it had been a full day at work and I only had enough energy for the first two bands). Thinking about doing a larger picture taking in band, crowd, and bar (the final quarter remains tantalizingly within reach—maybe space for a supernatural element?). I was slightly hungover the next morning, and so broke my SDV fast to check out a few of the other farm patterns, but there wasn’t much I could do without a controller (as I’d planned) so it wasn’t much of a thing.

Painting remains elusive; I’ve got my ongoing art supply donation schedule on the brain and that might have something to do with it (a lot of the acrylics I’d picked up in my early days I don’t find that user-friendly anymore and the main conduit for this sort of thing has presently paused donations, so I’m working my brain to find alternatives). It’s been getting really humid in my room, too, which doesn’t help; I finally pulled out the window unit only for the temps to drop again (from the last few days and looking at the forecast ahead, this is a weird June even for Michigan), and the confusion is affecting what feels possible right now (it doesn’t help that my summer’s heavily booked with other priorities, not least my “bucket list” Washtenaw County-specific bike rides given my plans to move to Detroit in a couple of years). I’d rather have too much on my plate than too little, but still.

Second stock header in a row, which is (maybe not too) indicative.

How’s your work going?
