The Tabletop Games Thread Breaks Out (9/10/25)

Welcome back to the weekly Tabletop Games thread! This thread is where we can talk about all kinds of RPGs, card games, board games, etc. Whether you gather around a physical table in the real world, or use a virtual space to play with friends who may live far away from you, this is where you can discuss your favorites, ask for and/or receive recommendations, recap your recent adventures, or even find some people to play games with!

Discussion Prompt: Let’s talk about another popular adventure trope–the Jailbreak. Maybe your PCs have been captured by the BBEG’s henchmen, or maybe their murder-hobo tendencies caught up with them and they’ve been arrested by the town guards. Now they have to break themselves out of captivity and escape. What are some tips and tricks you have for running this kind of adventure, and what game systems are best suited for it?

Alternatively, perhaps it’s an NPC who’s been imprisoned, and the players need to figure out a way to get them free, in which case the Jailbreak probably has some overlap with a Heist-style adventure. Any special considerations for this variant?

If you would like to suggest a prompt or contribute a write-up or discussion topic of your own, let me know in the comments!
