Not only did my Detroit Tigers make the playoffs for the first time in a decade yesterday, but 2024 is the first year ever where the Detroit Tigers, Hanshin Tigers, and Kia Tigers all made the postseason! Clearly, it’s the Year of the Tiger no matter what the Chinese calendar says. And to celebrate, how about a goofy novelty song?

Ernie Harwell, legendary radio voice of the Tigers, wrote this to celebrate the 1984 team that won the World Series. While that was a little before my time, their longtime flagship radio station WJR used this to lead into and out of Tigers games for years, so there are warm, fuzzy memories childhood memories attached to it.

And because I know The Avocado…how about some baby tigers?
