Mornin’ Politocadoes!
It’s pretty trite at this point to say we’re disappointed with the choices Americans have in the Presidential election; Joe Biden, a seemingly decent and compassionate man with a curious penchant for letting rogue allies commit genocide, Donald Trump, the Ex-President What Attempted A Coup When He Didn’t Win, and Robert F Kennedy, Jr., who, apart from being anti-vax, also recently disclosed he had a worm in his brain. Literal brain worms.
Biden is, of course, the only serious answer when you ask the question who should be elected this cycle. Despite the indifference and the obsequious nature of their response to Israel’s vicious campaign to destroy Palestine, he is also the only objective choice if we want to continue to have a mostly stable world. Biden and his allies are walking a pretty tight rope hoping to please pro-Israeli forces and pro-Palestine voices. Only recently did the administration decide to pause weapons sales over concerns for the Palestinian city of Rafah. He drew another red line with Rafah recently, saying that if Israel invades the city than the US will not supply Israel with artillery shells, bombs for fighter jets, and other types of ammunition.
Republicans like almost-ousted Speaker Mike Johnson (R-AL) and Senator Mitch McConnell demanding details. Pro-Israel Democrats have chided Biden over these recent decisions. Senators like John Fetterman (D-PA) and Representative Ritchie Torres (D-FL) strenuously disagreed with Torres going so far to say that it was pandering to the far left of the party. Powerful forces within the government say it’s way too much and people on the outside say that it’s far too little and far too late.
Thus far Israeli positioning around the city of Rafah has not yet crossed Biden’s red line, having only taken border crossings and begun evacuations. So long as the ISDF hasn’t entered any of the population centers then the US won’t provide further support. But it’s these smaller incremental moves that speak to something larger happening. What happens when Israel does enter the population centers? No more weapons? Well and good. How is that going to help the people on the ground? Sooner or later, he’ll need to take a stand with more conviction.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues even if the emergencies end, continue to vaccinate using the latest version of the FDA approved vaccines by Phizer and Moderna. Even if you are vaccinated, please continue to maintain social distancing measures, wear masks in public areas in accordance with CDC guidelines in regard to your own vaccination status.
Also, according to recent polls approximately 50% of adults are not planning on getting their Covid-19 boosters. So please get them and older adults should also look to be vaccinated for RSV! It’s been difficult to get adults onboard with getting the RSV shots as it is. Remember that getting these shots could potentially keep thousands of Americans who do not have to be there out of the ICU this winter.
