Peter Vaughan Day Thread (Friday March 8)

Peter Vaughan was a British character actor. Apparently, if you are also British, he was best known to you as Grouty from the sitcom Porridge, but he popped up in a million things over the decades. A big man with a distinctive face, he often played menacing figures, but his range brought him roles of all kinds. I’ve seen him in The Crucible, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, The Remains of the Day, Time Bandits, Our Friends in the North, and Game of Thrones (his final role), off the top of my head, and he was always a welcome sight.

Vaughan was born Peter Ohm, the son of an Austrian immigrant, and served in World War II. He died peacefully in 2016 at age 93.
