Let’s get cooking, folks, to decide the best action flick of the 1980’s!

We had a lot of fine contenders in our nomination round, and the 32 entries that got the most votes will be competing in the tournament proper. Though, there ended up being a seven-way tie(!) for 32nd place, so in my role as tournament host, I acted as tiebreaker. Sorry, Bloodsport, Midnight Run, License to Kill, Top Gun, Superman II, and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, but I had to give the spot to Conan the Destroyer.

They’re taking it well.

Brackets were made based on the films’ release dates, with the two earliest films competing against each other first, then the third-earliest against the fourth-earliest, and so on.

As always, upvote the entries you want to see continue to the next round (downvotes do nothing). A discussion thread will be posted after the matchups. Current plan is to count the votes Tuesday and have Round 2 go live Wednesday.
