Mean Girls is back! And it’s in musical form! So stop trying to make “fetch” happen and wear pink tomorrow because it’s Wednesday. Mean Girls defined the high school clique for an entire generation. Yet they weren’t the first, nor were they the last. (And are they still called “cliques”? Is it “#squad” these days?)
Cliques represent a power struggle in high school, where it’s important who you know. It’s part aspirational, part cautionary. Sometimes when you’re connected the the right people, you can accomplish so many things.
Like black magic. Or murder.
