Team Primary’s performance yesterday has put them in pole position for today’s race. Will that pay dividends? Let’s find out.
For most of the race, it looks like either Balls of Chaos or the Green Ducks is going to take the top spot. But about two-thirds in, Mallard of the Green Ducks has some trouble getting onto the conveyor belt, and all hell breaks loose. Suddenly, the O’rangers, the Hazers, Team Primary, and the Savage Speeders all have a shot at glory. There are a couple of lead changes, and Team Primary even move into first place for a second. But then Balls of Chaos take the lead back and lengthen the gap. Prim of Team Primary makes a last-second effort to take back the lead in lap 13, but falls short and finishes behind Clutter of Balls of Chaos by 5 hundredths of a second. Hazy of the Hazers takes bronze.
- It wasn’t just Mallard who had trouble with the conveyor belt. Lots of marbles slipped out of their restraints as they were attempting to mount it. They did not learn from the Midnight Wisps’ disaster last week.
- The Limers’ strong qualifying performance did not translate to points today. They finished in a disappointing 10th.
- After winning the Marble League last year, you’d think the Raspberry Racers would be better positioned than any other team to win this competition. You’d be mistaken. They finished in fourteenth. Complacency is a death knell in the cutthroat world of marble racing.
- The host’s curse strikes again, with Team Momo finishing in last place, a dismal 11.41 seconds behind Balls of Chaos.
Next week, it’s off to the Hivedrive. Buzz buzz!
