We’re off to the O’rangers’ home turf for the second round of Marbula One. If you believe the rumours that the O’rangers have been juicing, then this probably feels like a bit like watching Icarus and then deciding to award hosting duties for the next HumanLympics to Moscow. But for the less conspiracy-minded, this is an opportunity to see the widely hated citrus spheres get trounced in front of a home crowd, much like Brazil’s 7-1 loss to the German squad at the 2014 World Cup.
However, today is just the qualifying round. Today’s course features a rough1 sand section, in addition to a tunnel and some tight hairpin turns.
The Limers set a good pace from the outset with a 31.40 qualifying time. Unfortunately for them, they’re bested in the next group by the Midnight Wisps and the Raspberry Racers, moving them back to the third position. Finally, in the last group, Mary of Team Primary gets caught on obstacle, putting her all the way back in last place by nearly two seconds, and Smoggy of the Hazers manages to nab the #2 spot away from the Raspberry racers with a 30.37.
Our top 3 for tomorrow: the Midnight Wisps; the Hazers; and the Raspberry Racers. The Limers, the Green Ducks, and the Savage Speeders have the next three spots. And the O’rangers disappoint the home crowd by finishing in an embarrassing 15th place.
