All Things Cricket: January 14th

  • West Indies took the 2nd ODI of their series with Ireland in a thriller, winning by one wicket. They were nine wickets down and trailing by one run when the photo above was snapped. Unfortunately for Ireland, Mark Adair couldn’t collect this throw and fell down, leaving Sheldon Cottrell enough time to get back. Cottrell hit the next ball for a six, sealing the game. What a finish, and what a heartbreak for Ireland. USA’s own (he was born in the US Virgin Islands) Hayden Walsh, Jr. is the other Windies batsman pictured, and he finished at 46* for a key contribution.
  • Melbourne Renegades have now lost nine straight in the BBL after winning the title last year. Now that’s a hangover season.
  • India dispatched Sri Lanka pretty handily in a couple of T20I’s. They are playing the first ODI right now against a more formidable opponent, Australia. They batted first and were all out for 255 in their innings.
  • Chris Green of Australia got himself banned from bowling for 90 days because of an illegal bowling action.
  • Jos Buttler apologized for calling Vernon Philander a “f*cking knobhead.” Nice.
  • What else you got?
