My (Illustrated) Month of Horror

I didn’t watch the full 31 horror movies like I wanted to, but I did watch a lot of Halloween specials of sitcoms, so overall, I’m pretty pleased with what I did end up seeing.  And here’s what I drew for you all.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The classic.

IT (the original 1990 TV movie).  Even though this movie is super rough and kind of shitty in parts, I actually give a shit about the characters and want to see them win.

The Vengeful Dead – Christ Almighty, this movie was boring.  I bought it at a thrift store for a quarter, knowing it’d either be an amazing hidden gem waiting to be discovered, or just the worst.  It was the latter.

The Exorcist – Hey, look, I drew a gif!

Dracula 2000 – I know Stupid Decisions come with the territory in horror movies, but this movie was only made possible by every decision every single person makes being the worst possible one.

Leprechaun 2 – I actually kind of liked it.

Halloween 2 – Even though it’s a step down from its predecessor, it’s still better than it has any right to be.

Donnie Darko – Even though I don’t love it as much as I did when I was a teenager, this is just good, solid fun.

Ravenous – Delicious.

Orphan and The Ice-Cream Man (here’s a two-for)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Lighthouse (another two-for)

The Final Terror – One of my favorite slashers.  Criminally underrated.

Hocus Pocus – A bunch of grown-ass adults acting super silly, and it’s so fun.

It’s Alive – Thank god I don’t have kids.

The Leopard Man – This was the last movie I had to see in order to say I’ve seen all of Val Lewton’s horror productions, and it was a damn good one.  Scary, twist and brisk.

When A Stranger Calls – Man, what a great opening followed by a boring movie and a pretty okay finale.

Slaughter High – Usually, kids in slasher movies are unlikable.  These kids are fucking psychos.  And I think we’re still supposed to like them.  I’ve never rooted for a slasher harder.

Strangeland – Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, this was bad.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra – It’s cute.  I like it.

The Sixth Sense – Fuckin’ stone cold classic.  It’d been years since I saw it and I forgot how sad it is.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow – Made-for-TV movie that is genuinely dark and upsetting.  So goddamned good.

The Witch – I love this movie a lot.

Re-Animator – Somehow high-class and supremely silly.  It’s the best.

Misery – This movie is genuinely good.  And that damned hobbling scene makes me rub my ankle every.  Damn.  Time.

Lake Mungo – Do yourself a favor and, if you haven’t seen it already, go and watch this movie like right fucking now.  It’s streaming on Amazon Prime.
