It is with a heavy heart that I report on the overnight passing of Maryland Representative Elijah Cummings, Chair of the Congressional Oversight Committee. A long time legislator, having previously served with the Maryland House of Delegates, as well as the Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus and the first Black Speaker Pro Tempore in the Maryland General Assembly. He was elected to the House in 1996 and was elected 12 times over in total, never dropping below 69% percent of the vote. Representative Cummings’ tenacity and rock solid convictions have been an anchor for many, particularly during the Trump Administration.
He has been a fierce critic, working tirelessly in House Oversight to hold the Administration accountable. After the 2018 Midterm elections, Cummings became the Chair of the Oversight Committee working even harder to bring this lawless administration to account.
I'm begging the American people to pay attention to what is going on. Because if you want to have a democracy intact for your children, and your children's children, and generations yet unborn we've got to guard this moment…this is our watch. pic.twitter.com/ShTZwbQROP

We have lost someone truly special. He was 68.
The news has been absolutely insane in the last 24 hours. Let’s review. In addtion to a powerful committee chair passing away, the President’s choices in Syria has: led to an aggressive push from Turkey killing many of our former allies, and led to Trump disclosing of how many nukes we might have in Turkey. Meanwhile, the House held a vote to condemn Trump’s action on Syria, which passed overwhelmingly 354-60 vote (Tulsi didn’t vote as I understand), this vote apparently put Trump in Meltdown Mode.
So, when Speaker Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had a sit-down with the President, he was so livid he trashed General Mattis, claimed he beat ISIS in a month. The meeting was so disturbing that Pelosi and Schumer abruptly left, which sent the President into a tailspin on twitter, desperately trying to show that it was not he who was owned, but it was in fact the Speaker who had been owned.
She had not, in fact, been owned.

He also said that the Kurds were ‘no angels’ and in some ways as bad as ISIS.
Oh! And then after all of the tough talk on Syria, the President of the United States of America sent the following letter. It’s completely real and Trump apparently handed it out to everyone at the meeting to show them how tough he’d been. While all of this is happening, Trump apparently thought it was a good idea to surprise the parents of the British teen killed by a US diplomat with a meeting with said US diplomat. So well done there, I guess.
Giuliani’s looking more and more like a scumbag criminal by the day. In addition to Rudy’s other work for Turkey, he apparently has also been pushing for the extradition of Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen back to Turkey. Longtime viewers may recall that this was a major plot point in Season 2 of the Trump Administration when Michael Flynn was being investigated as an unregistered foreign agent for Turkey.
Rudy is also feeding the President bunk conspiracy theories according to former Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert.
Trump’s former Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert on this insanity:
“It's not only a conspiracy theory, it is completely debunked…. I am deeply frustrated with what he (GIULIANI) and the legal team is doing and repeating that debunked theory to the President… https://t.co/c8enepyMAb

On the impeachment front, Rick Perry is running for cover. US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland is worried that he’s being scapegoated and he will probably say so today in his deposition.
There is too much news, peeps.
