Can the first person here each day create a Results thread so it’s always first when sorted by Oldest? That will make it much easier to track results.

Quiz type: Forced Order / Wrong Answers

Quiz note: Decide whether you think the given clip is from the Mediaeval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Modern period and enter “med”, “ren”, “bar”, “cla”, “rom”, or “mod”. For the purposes of this quiz, the periods are defined as: Mediaeval, 500-1400; Renaissance, 1400-1600; Baroque, 1600 – 1750; Classical, 1750-1825; Romantic, 1825-1900; Modern, 1900-present. Obviously, composition date and style are not perfectly correlated; however, I have tried to avoid ambiguous cases – so you don’t have to worry about how to classify a work written by Handel in 1755, for instance.

Because it contains audio clips, this quiz is not embeddable, but you can play it here.

If it’s helpful, here’s a direct link to the audio clips (which are embedded on Sporcle):

Remember to post your results here in the Results thread (sort by Oldest), including time left on the clock for tie-breaking purposes.
