The Lion King opened on this day 25 years ago, and yes, you’re that old.

However, if you weren’t around when the movie was new, I will put it to you this way: this was my generation’s movie. Or, more to the point, The Lion King was to the 90’s what Frozen is now. It was an absolute pop culture phenomenon, not only becoming the biggest animated movie ever at the time, but the biggest home video release as well (a title it still holds to this day).
