The History Thread Calls It the 35th of May

Uh…so…I don’t really know what to do here.

So…today is the 30th Anniversary of the Massacre. From what I gather, Chinese people are still not allowed to talk about it…even though few of them seem to care about it anyways. You know. Moving on. Being too busy working six twelve-hour days each week to worry about the current political climate, let alone stuff from the past. But there are some people who do talk about it, getting around the censors by doing stuff like referring to the date as May 35 as opposed to June 4.

Here are some articles about it from the South China Morning Post, which refers to the event as a crackdown.

Here is an article that had been written a month before the crackdown.

And here is a song that the students sang.

Erm…was there supposed to be a topic? Erm…how about how different narratives determine what is a protest and what is a riot? Or…something like that. Like, what is even going on in Sudan right now oh my goodness.

Or you could talk about D-Day. That’s…that’s cool too.
