Welcome to the Book Nook! This is the weekly thread for Avocados to discuss books we’re currently reading, recommendations, genre, and serious literary criticism.
This week’s recommended discussion: books with memorable locations. Real locations or fictional ones, are there settings for books that are rendered more vividly that others? How do authors do a good job of creating locations, and how well do you as a reader imagine them?
One caveat: because we’re here to use our words, this is a NO GIF/YouTube/social media embed zone (the OTs are full of clutter, and I want to keep that out of this thread).
upcoming topics:
5/15: writing about non-literary arts (music, dance, art, etc.) (h/t to troubled by nouns)
5/22: wrong description on jacket (h/t to a quiet storm)
5/29: beach/vacation reads (h/t to MisterSplendiferous)
Book Nook posts every Wednesday at 8:15 AM Eastern.
