Hello! Welcome to the fifth album in the Avocado Music Club. Some set up, again: These are different than Album Spotlights which are great and people put a lot of effort into. I won’t be putting a lot of effort into the body of these because I hate writing and don’t want to put my own opinion in them. The goal with these will be to, hopefully, have people listen to them ahead of time and be interested in discussing the album – including, in the future, recommendations they may not have otherwise listened to and engaged with.
From the initial recommendations, let’s listen and talk about:
Unwound – Leaves Turn Inside You
Leaves Turn Inside You is the eighth and final album from Washington band Unwound. It currently has an 87 on Metacritic and was Pitchfork’s #4 album of 2001 (just ahead of a personal favorite of mine, Circulatory System) and yet #95 on their 01-04 list.
Track Listing:
- We Invent You
- Look a Ghost
- December
- Treachery
- Terminus
- Demons Sing Love Songs
- Off This Century
- One Lick Less
- Scarlette
- October All Over
- Summer Freeze
- Radio Gra
- Below the Salt
- Who Cares
So, come talk about this album. Is it great/good/bad? Does it mean anything? Favorite parts/lyrics? How does it hold up? What are its influences? Has it influenced anything? How does it compare with the rest of the year’s music? Talk about anything, even if it’s (politely) negative, have fun!
