This is the finals for the HD Years generation of video games, covering games roughly between 2006-12 including the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PSP.
We’re down to our final two!
Mass Effect 2
- Since when do people like the middle entry in a trilogy the best (apart from Star Wars)? I suppose it happens when the first entry, while ambitious, doesn’t always get its footing, and the last entry is… controversial.
- I’m told if I ever get around to playing this I should date Garrus. He’s a little exoskeletony for me but I’ll give it a shot.
- Shepard.
- Wrex.
- Shepard.
- Wrex.
- Did I mention my version of Shepard in Mass Effect was totally awesome? She was a paragon goody-two shoes and did not tolerate any inter-species racism whatsoever. I really should get back to it.
Portal
- This was a triumph. I’m making a note here, huge success.
- I had a forty point thesis all prepared about why Portal 2 is the better game but for some reason you guys voted for ME2 so fine, I see how it is.
- Introduced the greatest character in video gaming (as voted by you last summer, and also my personal favorite!) GLaDOS.
- The fact that everyone got pretty sick of the famous lines from this game kind of obscures how great they were in context.
- Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said ‘Goodbye’ and you were like ‘no way’ and then I was all ‘We pretended to murder you’? That was great!
This round ends Thursday 10PM EDT.
