Readers, I pose you a theoretical scenario. Say you were living in Jersey and you were fighting villains from afar. What do you do? Simple: find first gear in your giant robot car.
Cartoon Network’s Megas XLR ran for two seasons from 2004 to 2005. Our hero, Coop, finds a giant robot in the junkyard where he works. It’s missing a head, so he decides to stick a car on it for a head. As ya do.
It turns out that the robot is from the future. A human resistance stole a prototype mechanism from their enemies, the Glorft, and turned it into the Mechanized Earth Guard Attack System. Megas for short. Kiva Andru was designated as its pilot. An attack by the Glorft damages MEGAS’ head, and the resistance is forced to send the robot back in time.
Kiva travels back in time to retrieve the robot, but she discovers that all of Coop’s modifications mean that he’s the only one who can drive the robot now. And so it goes that Kiva, Coop, and Jamie (Coop’s friend) form the team that pilot MEGAS. Together they encounter visitors from other realms, such as…
… the totally original galactic heroes S-Force, who have nothing to do with Gatchaman…
… the ponytailed and magical Ultra-Cadets…
… and, of course, the gigantic head of Bruce Campbell in a MODOK outfit.
