This weekend I finished season two of The Dragon Prince. I wish a show like this had existed when I was a young teen obsessed with elves and dragons (now I’m a creepy middle aged man obsessed with elves and dragons).
Season two does not move the plot forward all that much, instead focusing on deepening the characters and fleshing out the world (two out of the nine episodes are mostly dedicated to an extended flashback). The improvements over season one include animation that seems a bit smoother and toning down the forced, quippy humor. It also introduces a fascinating new character that will clearly become integral to how the story proceeds in future seasons, and that’s all I’ll say without encroaching into spoilers.
Right now this is my second favorite animated Netflix show (after Bojack Horseman).
What did you do this weekend?
