Best Video Game Tournament – 3D Years – Eliminations, Round One

This is part two of the elimination round for the 3D Years generation of video games, covering games roughly between 1995-99 including the Playstation and N64.

Note that this is only half of the nominated games.

In this round, games have been arranged into groups of seven. You can vote for as many games in a group as you like.

At the end of the round, the bottom two games in each group will be eliminated.

In order to make the numbers work out, the thirteen top nominated games have been given a bye. These are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64, Half-Life, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 2, Fallout 2, Grim Fandango, Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and Planescape: Torment.

From the previous elimination round:

  • The game with the most votes was Starcraft. Unsurprising, given its critical role in the history of RTS games.
  • The games with the least votes among those that were not eliminated are Lunar Eternal Blue Complete, Interstate ’76, and Civilization: Call to Power.
  • The games with the least votes overall were Tobal No. 1, which sparked a discussion the other day about Toriyama’s character designs, and Mischief Makers (shake shake).
  • The games with the most votes that were eliminated are Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. I suspect Persona games will have a better showing in the next generation!

This round will close 10pm EST Sunday.
