This started in today’s open thread; Dikachu suggested I break it out into its own discussion. List your favorite song from each decade, for as far back as you want to go. Here’s my list; I’ll admit upfront to favoring the pop side of rock, and upbeat tunes over downbeat ones.
2010s – “Uptown Funk,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars
2000s – “To the Dogs or Whoever,” Josh Ritter
1990s – “I Love You Always Forever,” Donna Lewis
1980s – “Tunnel of Love,” Bruce Springsteen
1970s – “Rasputin,” Bony M
1960s – “King of the Road,” Roger Miller
1950s – “Come Go with Me,” The Del-Vikings
1940s – “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive,” Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer
1930s – “Aquarela do Brasil,” Ary Barroso
(My original choice for the 1960s was Three Dog Night’s “Shambala,” but then I learned it’s actually from 1973. It sounds like it’s from 1967, but that doesn’t count.)
What about you guys?
