Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Nov. 30 – Today’s contestants are:
– Ben, an attorney from California, has a dog named Indiana Jones;
– Elizabeth, a housewife from Michigan, home schools five of her six children; and
– Adriana, a data scientist from California, signs up for online courses but doesn’t finish them. Adriana is a two-day champ with winnings of $35,601.
Elizabeth took the lead on DD3 and was able to hold first place into FJ with $13,800 vs. $11,400 for Ben and $5,800 for Adriana.
DD1 – MEDICAL AMAs – Decompression sickness (Adriana won $800 on a true DD.)
DD2 – OLD SPICE – This city-state defeated rival Genoa in 1380 for control of the spice trade (Elizabeth lost $3,000)
DD3 – I GOT “U” BABE – Adjective meaning relating to the navel (Elizabeth won $3,000)
FJ – THE OLD WEST – On Oct. 27, 1881 this town’s local newspaper reported on “a day when blood flowed as water”
Surprisingly, FJ was yet another Triple Stumper, the third one this week. This would have worked out for Ben if he had made the percentage play of a small-to-medium-sized wager, but instead he bet $10,000. This allowed Elizabeth to hang on, dropping $9,001 to prevail with $4,799.
Triple Stumper of the day: In a category about TV detectives, no one knew the long-running character played by Jack Lord and Alex O’Loughlin is Steve McGarrett.
This day in Trebekistan: Alex thinks home schooling has a lot in common with wrestling and takes online courses related to traffic tickets.
DD1 – What is the bends?
DD2 – What is Venice?
DD3 – What is umbilical?
FJ – What is Tombstone?
