Here’s what you didn’t do this weekend…
… you didn’t attend the Golden Eagle Festival in the Bayan-Ulgii province of western Mongolia, which always occurs during the first weekend of October.
Dressed in full eagle hunting regalia and mounted on groomed decorated horses, the entrants compete for the awards of best turned out eagle and owner, best eagle at hunting prey, and best eagle at locating its owner from a distance.
There is also horse racing, camel racing, archery, and something called a “whole goat skin competition”, which I find personally disturbing.
So, that’s what you didn’t do this weekend. Now tell us what you did!
