The Best Album Cover Tournament: Sweet 16

Welcome, Avocados, to the third round of the BEST ALBUM COVER Tournament!  Thanks to everyone for their votes in the first and second rounds!

Not quite as many surprise upsets this time around…  The brackets are here, if you’re interested.

Notes from Last Round:

  • The most dramatic upset this time was Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique (20) beating out Herb Alpert’s Whipped Cream and Other Delights (13) by 57 to 38… surprising considered that Whipped Cream was nominated like five separate times.
  • The least-popular loser was The Beatles’ Rubber Soul (31) with a measly 19 votes, which was unsurprisingly crushed by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon (1) which garnered 84 votes.
  • The most-popular loser was The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (9) which barely lost to The Clash – London Calling (24) by five votes.
  • The least-popular winner was Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers (22), which only garnered 51 votes vs. Kraftwerk’s The Man-Machine (11) which got 43.

Reminder: The actual quality of the album itself is irrelevant!  This is a contest about how great the cover itself is!  Vote for the ones you like!  Vote for both if you like both, or neither if you like neither!  I’m not your supervisor!

Voting on this round ends Wednesday Sept. 19 around 11:00am EDT!
