Muppet Casting: Mad Max (Fury Road)

It’s time for another round of Muppet Casting, where we take a famous movie and ask, if Jim Henson’s Muppets made their own version of it (in the vein of The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island), which Muppets would you cast in the lead roles?

This week, it’s Mad Max: Fury Road!

Miss Piggy as Imperator Furiosa – A no-brainer. What Muppet (female or male) has the badassness and righteous fury to do Furiosa justice?

Kermit the Frog as Max – Casting Kermit in the (ostensible) lead role is the predictable, generic choice. But in a movie where the ostensible lead is only there to provide name recognition that the real lead lacks, going predictable and generic seems entirely appropriate.

Fozzie Bear as Immortan Joe – Replace Joe’s big speeches to rally his forces with bad standup routines, and it’s implied one of the greatest cruelties of Joe’s regime is that everyone has to pretend his jokes are funny.

Camilla and the Chickens as The Escaped Wives – ‘Cause if you don’t use the chickens, there really aren’t enough female Muppets to fill out the cast.

Gonzo the Great as Nux – Who else could be as gleefully insane and unconcerned for safety, shouting “What a lovely day!” as he speeds a car through the desert with a man strapped to the hood?

Skeeter, Hilda, & Janice as The Many Mothers – Have Janice be the one who talks about how, before the apocalypse, everyone had their own television show. Seems like the kinda dippy thing Janice would say.

Statler & Waldorf as The Bullet Farmer & People Eater – The guys who really don’t want to be part of Joe’s crusade to get his brides back, and aren’t shy complaining about it. I feel like Statler & Waldorf could get some awesome sassy comments out of these roles.

Floyd Pepper as The Doof Warrior – a.k.a. The Guy Playing the Flamethrower Guitar. This one seems pretty self-explanatory.

Those are my picks for a Muppet rendition of Mad Max: Fury Road. What are yours?
