It wasn’t a very slow news day!

Paul Manafort, Trump campaign manager after the first one got fired, was found guilty on 8 of 18 charges today. ( A mistrial was declared on the remaining 10)

5 of the guilty verdicts had to do with false tax documents, the other 3 for ban fraud and foreign bank accout manager

 

Michael Cohen, Trump’ s  ( former) personal lawyer, and self- proclaimed “fixer” pled guilty to 8 violations of various banking. tax and campaign financing  laws.

It’s all too much to summarize for me right now*  and too much for the daily politics thread – since there’s a ton of other things going on in the world. And t o give members of the community a chance to discuss a specific issue, rather than wading through the poltics thread.

So here’s a place to discuss the news on Manafort and Cohen – men with deep connections to the sitting president – who paid off a porn actor to be quiet about their affair ( possibly with campaign money) and opportunistically either knowingly or unknowingly broke laws and exploded norms by colluding, contacting or cutting “deals” with Russian gov officials in order to … profit personally and politically.

• Red Handle:  Try to stay away from insults that may be intended as funny, but accidentally offend someone with a different experience. So no gendered insults, no fat jokes, that ig of thing.  You can certainly call, say, Trump “an orange shit gobbon” or something – but lets try to focus.
