Can the Day Thread Get Much Higher?

This is Part 5 of a series of headers about my 10 favorite albums.

At the mall, there was a seance
Just kids, no parents
Then the sky filled with herons
I saw the devil i
n a Chrysler LeBaron
And the hell, it wouldn’t spare us
And the fires did declare us
But after that, took pills, kissed an heiress
And woke up back in Paris

My sixth-favorite album is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West. I had the hardest time choosing a lyrical excerpt to include in this header, and here’s why: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is an impossible album to summarize. No one verse or track can tell you what this album is, because, quite simply, this album tries to be everything. And it mostly succeeds. This album is triumphantly egotistical, devastatingly vulnerable, high-minded, low-minded, viciously political, and unflinchingly artistic. It’s one of the musical crown jewels of the 21st century, and it’s an experience like no other.
