I watched the debut film from director/screenwriter Mari Okada, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, earlier this week. It chronicles the life of a girl from a race of immortal beings as she raises an adopted human son. It might be playing in theatres for a couple more days where you are, so now’s your last chance to go see it. I’ll post some more spoileriffic thoughts on the film in the comments below.
