Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Jul. 25 – Here are today’s contestants:
– Ron, a copywriter from Texas, met Bill Clinton and Gallagher in short order;
– Burt, a PhD candidate from Connecticut, played the trumpet during his school years; and
– Dave, a director of technology from Pennsylvania, taste tests the cheeses his employer sells. Dave is a three-day champ with winnings of $77,400.
Early on it looked like Burt might be left in the dust by his eager opponents, but Dave and Ron pretty much stalled out after the first commercial break while Burt steadily kept building. In fact, Burt nearly had a runaway, but Dave managed to stay alive with $7,200 vs. $13,200 for Burt and $4,400 for Ron.
DD1 – NONFICTION – This book published in 1611 is the subject of the recent work “God’s Secretaries” (Burt won $1,000)
DD2 – CAPITAL LETTERS – This 7-letter Central American capital ends in the same 4 letters as its country (Dave lost $6,600 on a true DD.)
DD3 – RELIGIOUS-ISMS – The tao in Taoism is usually translated into English as this 3-letter word (Burt lost $1,200)
FJ – BRIDGES – In 1990 the Yalu River Bridge was renamed the “Friendship Bridge” between these 2 nations; one is the other’s best friend
Dave finally made an FJ wager, betting it all while correct, but it wasn’t good enough as Burt was also right and added $1,201 to win with $14,401.
Triple Stumper of the day: No one guessed that a funambulist, who is “up high at a circus”, walks the tightrope.
DD1 – What is the King James Bible?
DD2 – What is Managua?
DD3 – What is way?
FJ – What are North Korea and China?
