A tip of the cap to Francesco Molinari, whose steady play allowed him to beat a crowded field of contenders in the Open Championship (or, as we say in America, the British Open).  Molinari is the hottest men’s golfer in the world right now. It will be interesting to see what he does at the PGA Championship.

Elsewhere, it’s the quiet before the football storm, as training camps are opening and the non-excitement of preseason nears. The MLB trade deadline is closing in fast, but will there be any more big deals?  It seems likely that the NBA will get quieter, but I thought that was the case a week ago, and we got the Kawhi trade.  And the Tour de France moves to the big finish, assuming that the cyclists stop running into protesters, each other, and the occasional rogue cow.
